Immunity – The most searched word in the past 8 months. As a parent, we take the responsibility to give the essential nutrients and much-needed immunity for our babies in whichever way possible. The hardest part is to make them eat nutritious food. I use to find all the nook and corners to somehow feed my son. My new addition to the list is ” Kid Friendly Immune Booster cookies”

We are at the start of winter, babies get cough and cold often in this season. We will be scared if they fell sick at this pandemic situation but no need to get panic balancing their immune levels will help to fight against seasonal infections. Our authentic way to treat cold and cough is to give Turmeric milk but that doesn’t work with 2K kids anymore. They need innovation in medicine too however I enjoy experimenting on food items. This is how my immune packed food came in the form of cookies.

How did this turn to be Immune booster cookies?

You can easily relate the word immunity if I list down the ingredients for this simple cookie recipe. Anyone can try this recipe with the items available at home. Let me start with the hero ingredient Ginger – king of immune rich food, Turmeric Powder, Almond Flour, cardamom, Butter, Eggs, Wheat flour, and Brown sugar. Blend all the ingredients and bake in the oven for 17 mins. Perfect after fever food is ready for your kids. Even you can grab a few when you feel low on energy.

Ginger For Immunity

Ginger is antibacterial so it helps to support the immune system. It doesn’t need an introduction to fight against diseases. Our authentic  ” Nattu Vaithiyam” includes ginger is most of the medicines. Whenever you search for natural cures for any illness the list cannot avoid the ginger however large quantity of ginger intake at a time is not advisable.

Why I used Almond Flour?

Almonds are high in vitamin E that acts as an antioxidant in your body and helps the immune system function. Almonds also contain iron and protein that are essential for your immune system. On top of it, Almond flour adds a rich and classy flavor to the cookies.

How to prepare Almond flour?

You can use store-bought almond flour or follow the steps below.

  • Soak about 100 grams of almond in water for 2 hrs.
  • Peel off the skin and let to dry completely
  • slightly roast it in a Tawa and allow to cool down
  • Transfer to a mixer grinder and grind to a coarse powder

Rich Almond flour is ready and you can use this for various recipes especially vegan-friendly recipes.

  • Preheat oven to 170-degree Celcius for 10 minutes.
  • Whisk 50 grams of butter to nice and soft
  • Add-In one room temperature egg
  • Add 1/2 cups of brown sugar.
  • Add 2 tbsp of ginger syrup.
  • Add in 3 sticks of crushed cardamom.
  • Add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.
  • Add in 1/3 cups of Almond flour.
  • Add in 1/2 cups of wheat flour.
  • Add 1/2 tsp of baking powder.
  • Add 1/2 tsp of baking soda.
  • Mix the ingredients gently to a coarse dough.
  • Scoop with a small spoon.
  • Slightly press with your palm and place it in a lined baking tray with space for cookies to spread out.
  • Bake for about 17 minutes in 170-degree Celcius.
  • Take out and allow to cool down completely.
  • Enjoy Power-packed Cookies.


You can add dry ginger powder also instead of Ginger syrup.
